Speech and Language Therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are evaluations and therapy sessions held?

Evaluations and therapy sessions are conveniently conducted in the comfort of your home or at your student's school. We are thrilled to engage in partnerships with several private schools around the Valley, offering on-site services. Additionally, we welcome the opportunity to establish collaborations with schools to provide on-site services.

For in-home appointments, kindly ensure there is a designated space available where we can work with minimal distractions. For preschool and kindergarten-aged children, this may involve a living room space on a rug. For elementary-aged children, a table and chairs setup would be ideal.

Do you accept insurance, and what your payment options?

At this time, we do not participate in managed care/insurance provider panels. However, you can request an itemized 'superbill' for submission to your insurance for possible reimbursement. It is advisable to check your out-of-network benefits for speech therapy with your insurance provider prior to starting our sessions.

All payments are due before the service and can be conveniently made online through a secure client portal using debit cards, credit cards, FSA, or HSA accounts.

Additionally, we are an approved vendor within the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program. For more details on this program for students in homeschooling or private school, please visit https://www.azed.gov/esa/esa-guidance.

What level of participation is encouraged from me during the sessions?

Collaboration between family and therapist is a core-value at Illuminate Family Workshop. For some families, it might be beneficial for the child’s adult to participate in therapy sessions to learn prompts and cues to carry-over skills after the session is over. However, every child is different and some do better without their adult in the room. We’ll communicate about this during our first sessions.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our time together is important. If you need to cancel your Appointment, you need to do so at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled time by email or phone. If you do not contact me at least 24 hours in advance, this will be considered a missed Appointment. Missed Appointments may not be able to be rescheduled. I will do my best to reschedule you however, due to availability and planning this may not be possible.

We will be closed for some holidays and professional conferences. Families will be notified of cancellations on their schedule at least one week in advance.
